Lauren Celentano was the first American contestant to be cast on the #1 Italian TV talent competition show, "Amici di Maria de Filippi" (Season 17.)
In November of 2017, Lauren moved to Italy to compete as a dancer on the show and, after 8 months, she emerged as the winner of the dance category! Lauren then went on to become one of four finalists, as well as the winner of the prestigious Critic's choice award.
After the show's finale in June of 2018, Lauren stayed in Italy for the remainder of that summer to hold meet and greets and teach dance classes all over the country of Italy, from Milan to Tuscany to Sicily! Italy has become a second home to Lauren, and she is now completely fluent in Italian!

Amici (Italian for "friends") is an Italian talent show based off of the 1980's NBC Tv-series "Fame." It features an academy/school involving a class of about 20 students (ages 18-30) who aspire to become professional singers, songwriters and dancers (classical, modern, jazz and hip-hop). The students compete against each other, performing live before an audience and a panel of judges and instructors. It is widely considered to be Italy's combination of “So You Think You Can Dance” and "American Idol", along with some elements of "Big Brother."
Created by Maria De Filippi, the show began in 2001 and has since aired annually from October/November until May/June. The show is produced by Fascino P.G.T. s.r.l. and is broadcast on Canale 5.
